While the park only supports only walk-in camping, you can pitch your tent or camper nearby at these other campgrounds and RV parks.
And yes--you can have a fire at Skull Hollow, not at Smith Rock. One campground, three RV Parks and a public works RV dump station are within a 15 mile radius of Smith Rock State Park.

Crooked River Ranch RV Park
Around a 20-minute drive from Smith Rock State Park, the Crooked River Ranch RV Park has a bunch of amenities to entertain the family on multiple day stays in the area.
From the RV parking area, it's a short walk to the golf course, newly constructed tennis courts and the swimming pool. They welcome all campers from tents to the largest RV on the road.
Expo Center RV Park
Close to the area airport the Deschutes County Fair & Expo RV Park is around a 20-minute drive from Smith Rock State Park. It's a year-round park offering full hook-ups.
They currently have 106 sites in the park as well as 10 tent sites that offer electric and a shared water source.
Redmond/Central Oregon KOA
The closest KOA is 15 miles north of Smith Rock State Park. The campground is located between Terrebonne and Madras just east of Highway 97.
They tout spectacular views of the Cascade Range, including Mt. Jefferson and Mt. Hood, Lake Billy Chinook - where the Deschutes, Crooked and Metolius rivers converge - and Haystack Reservoir lie less than 15 minutes away and offer every kind of water sport.
Amenities include a heated outdoor pool, weekend ice cream socials, pancake breakfasts, glo-light parades, banana-bike and pedal-kart rentals, and a "pebble puppy" area for kids and an off-leash pet playground.
Shop the unique campground store for souvenirs, groceries and fishing tackle. Pool: May 5 - September 30. Max pull thru: 100 feet.
