Yesterday former Smith Rock Park Naturalist David Vick was able to check on the Prairie Falcon nest at First Kiss. He spent a couple of hours in the morning at the observation point again and never saw or heard any falcons.

SmithRock.com is happy to report for all you anxious climbers that the First Kiss climbing area is open again as of tomorrow, Friday, July 13. As far as park management knows, the chicks fledged successfully, bringing all climbing closures to an end for the season.
The park saw another successful breeding season for most of its raptor population. Fledging activity with the Bald and Golden Eagles this week prompted a lift of climbing restrictions in the Monument Area for the Goldens, as well as a lift of the trail restriction advisory on the Canyon Trail for the Balds as of today, Saturday, July 7, 2018.
The last of the raptor closures, this time for both Prairie and Peregrine falcons, has been lifted as of July 15, 2017 at Smith Rock State Park. Yes, climbers—First Kiss is back open, along with all routes above 100 feet in the Smith Rock Group area.
Thanks everyone for keeping the noise level down on the Canyon Trail and Bivy Rim and for staying off routes in the Monument Area. And while we'll miss watching all the nest action, Solo the park's Bald eaglet and the two Golden eaglets have successfully fledged.
