Peregrine Falcons Nesting Changes Affect Climbing Route Closures at Smith Rock

Yep, the prairie falcons decided to move their nest this year. This translates to a lifting of Picnic Lunch Wall route closures above 100 feet and Voyage of the Cow Dog restrictions as of May 11, 2017.BUT, they are now on the northeast face of the Smith Rock Group, so routes above 100 feet there are closed. Single pitch routes remain open.

Thanks to the fast work of Ian Caldwell, fondly known as the "Mayor of Smith Rock" and others from park management, as of 1:30 PM on 9/15/15, the First Kiss climbing route re-opened after its brief few days closure.
