Blown in with the spring storms, we watched this newcomer to the park vie for territory throughout the summer with the established Great Blue Heron. Then it disappeared. From what we can tell, it looks like it's a Snowy Egret, also part of the Heron family.
They grow to 24" with an all-white body, a long neck, and long legs, and generally hang out in marshes and coastal bays.
