The Smith Rock Bivy Campground Re-opens Tomorrow, May 27
Camping is not reservable, and paid for on a nightly basis.
May 26, 2021
After over a year in hiatus due to COVID closures, Smith Rock State Park management announced today that they will be re-opening the Bivouac Camp this Thursday, May 27th.
Parking will be initially reduced to limit total capacity, and the showers will be limited to registered overnight guests only and locked nightly. The cliff rim sites in the tent area are closed for nesting Bald Eagle protection.
It is likely that the campground parking will be full all weekend, so please do not purchase a permit without securing a parking space beforehand.
Camping permits will be sold on a nightly basis, and the checkout time will be enforced. Check-in is at 4 pm and check-out is at 1 pm.
Refunds will not be given to those that purchase a permit without finding a designated parking spot in the campground first.
Vehicles parked in the bivouac area need to display a current overnight permit.
Day-use parking permits are not valid in the bivouac area.
Climbers heading back to camp go past the common area.
